You’re probably checking your budget to see where you can trim the edges. With the economy tightening your belt a little (or a lot), it’s worth slimming down on spending. One place you don’t want to skimp on though is security. It’s easier to take care of the things you already have than it is going through the hassle, time, and money to replace it.

Our job goes beyond the alarm system. It’s more than quality products. We provide you with one on one attention. When it comes to the important things, like home and family, we know how important that personal touch is.

What You Can Avoid By Using Norhtstar Alarm

June 19th, 2009 · No Comments

Nobody wants their house to be broken into but it happens. One way to avoid being the victim of a break-in is by getting a home security system.

Here’s an example of what you don’t want to happen to you:

Someone broke into a 10th Avenue home on June 22 and got away with a grand.

The 46-year-old owner of the house, which is between 69th and 70th streets, told cops that he’d left his home around 4 pm and returned seven hours later to find the front door unlocked and $1,000 and a cellphone missing from inside.

Northstar Alarm - Making Your Home Recession Proof

June 16th, 2009 · No Comments

Right now a lot of people are trying to cut down on their spending. But during any economic downturn, there is bound to be a rise in crime. In a recent survey of law enforcement agencies, they reported a rise in crime of up to 40%, most of which were home burglaries and thefts. They suggest that these crimes can be traced to the recession.

Is saving money during an economic downturn really worth your family’s safety. Don’t think of a home security system as another expense; think of it as making you and your property recession-proof.

If you already have an home security system and are not advertising, this may be the time to start. It won’t cost you anything and it may deter criminals from trying to enter your house.

You might also want to double check your system. Do some tests around your house with the system to make sure everything is working the way it should. You might also find that your system needs some upgrades in the process. Your system is useless unless it is working properly and, in that case, does become just another expense.

If you’re coming to the end of your agreement with a security company, evaluate the service you’ve been receiving. Have they been responsive? Helpful? Has your equipment held up? If not, look into new security providers. You might be able to find a better provider that’s more affordable.

If you don’t have a security system yet, call us. We can set you up with a brand new Honeywell security system. We can suit your needs and budget. Remember, security isn’t just another expense; it’s about making your home and family recession-proof.

Prioritize Your Family’s Protection

June 1st, 2009 · No Comments

There always comes a point where you have to entrust your family to a stranger. Most of the time, this stranger is a result of the need to hire someone for the household, or maybe an expansion for the family business you’re trying to put up. Whether it’s for a personal cause, or for a company need, you should always make sure you know the people you hire. One simple step of leaning to security is to do, if possible, a complete background check on the applicants on your lineup. Always take into consideration the different possibilities of what could happen. It’s not about being too suspicious; just keep in mind that it is for your family’s sake.

It’s not just the nanny you need that your wife had been nagging you about that you should worry about. Within the household you could choose to get someone to cut your grass or a gardener, a maid to help you with the chores, and many more. Who knows maybe you already hired these people unaware of what they could be capable of doing. Making sure that your family is surrounded with the right kind of people should be your top priority. Therefore, it is just a common move to want to know the background of those around you. Even the new neighbor you have around the block can either be a friend, or a threat. These people that come and go with your permission are the very stranger you’re allowing your family to be around with. So you should never be worried about being too cautious, especially when it’s your family that’s at hand.

Now you might ask, what’s the connection between the company’s choice of employees and your family? Haven’t you been watching the news lately? Criminals don’t always target the company owner or the business alone. Most of the time it includes kidnapping the kids, hostage the family, and many other at the verge of horrific things. At some point, you should realize the involvement of your family to all of your affairs. They are a part of you therefore attached to whatever may happen to you directly or indirectly. Thus again, the need to secure the character of the people that would work for you.

Most background check services offers a package with criminal background check results, and other stuffs you might want to know. These services can be availed for free online, but for a better result, paid online criminal background checks are also available. If you really want the best for your family, you have to do everything that you possibly can to attain security for them.

Seven Strengths of Great Home and Business Security Systems

June 1st, 2009 · No Comments

It is always a good idea to evaluate your basic security alarm systems to determine if they are serving you well. There are numerous ways to assess the value of your home or business security system. Here are seven questions to ask about the strengths of any security system.

1. Is it customized? You need a home or commercial security system that takes into account all your particular needs. For example, if a business has a glass storefront, the security issues will be different from a warehouse which is closed up inside an industrial complex. Furthermore, monitoring may need to be done more by the employees or more by the security alarm systems company. The system should suit the application for which it is being used.

2. Is it sophisticated? You will want a home security system that cannot be tricked by any garden variety burglar. The system should be complex enough in its design that it is not easily bypassed. Business security is just as important, and those who try to steal from businesses are often even more resourceful than home burglars. The level of sophistication in any commercial security system should be high.

3. Is it comprehensive? It is important to have security alarm systems, fire safety equipment, and even security surveillance if necessary. Security systems can be set up and programmed to check doors and windows, as well as monitor appliances, report flooding, and sound the alarm for fires. Every aspect of business or home security should be covered by a good security system.

4. Is it sensitive? Any security alarm system should be able to warn of intrusion, fire, or other damage whenever it happens. If it takes extreme force to start the alarm going or trip the security surveillance, the system is useless. Look for an alarm setup that will catch anything that should not be happening on your property as soon as trouble starts.

5. Is it versatile? An alarm system should be able to be upgraded whenever your business or home situation changes. Having a versatile system will make any transitions smoother and less costly. For instance, a great commercial security system would allow a quick addition of additional security surveillance equipment without reconfiguring the entire system.

6. Is it preventative? One way to make business or home security systems more preventative is to post signs stating that the systems are in place. Cities like Jacksonville, Palm Coast, and Tallahassee Florida have numerous signs showing that security alarm systems are placed in many homes and businesses. This tells burglars and vandals to stay away. Fire safety features should also prevent excessive damage by alerting the fire department quickly, before much damage is done.

7. Is it constant? Every home or commercial security system needs a backup power supply in order to keep it online in case of a power outage. This is especially true in areas like Florida where storms often put out electrical service. Along the same lines, equipment should be taken care of by skilled technicians so that it never fails in time of trouble.

When you answer all these questions, you will have a good idea of whether your alarm system is the right one for you. If it is, rest assured that it will keep you safe in an often unfriendly world. If it does not meet these standards, it is time to look for a new business or home security system company.
